Commitment to Health & Wellbeing

Arnott's is committed to providing consumers with a choice of products that contribute to their physical and emotional wellbeing – from everyday lunchbox favourites such as Vita-Weat, Salada and Cruskits to occasional treats such as Tim Tam, Tasty Jacks and Cheezels.

We continue to improve the nutrition profile of many of our products as well as introduce new, better-for-you choices.

In the past two and half years, we've removed more than 4.5 billion kilojoules from the food chain by introducing lower-fat versions of some of our icon brands.

Our ongoing investment in science-based research

To mark Arnott's 140th anniversary in 2005, the Company established the William Arnott Scholarship at the University of Newcastle. The scholarship program is designed to help promote academic learning and research in the areas of wellness and nutrition.

Michelle Palmer is the inaugural recipient of the scholarhsip, which is helping to fund her PhD looking at the effect of meal patterns on health and wellbeing. According to Ms Palmer, while the study won't be complete until late 2006, there's a chance the results may challenge the current way most of us think about eating.

'Many people have been brought up to believe we should eat breakfast, lunch and dinner with no snacking in between,' said Ms Palmer. 'But there's a theory that eating smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day promotes weight loss and improves your overall sense of wellbeing.

As well as helping to better understand the dietary role of snacking, the results of Ms Palmer's study may contribute to the development of successful weight loss strategies.

Our commitment to responsible marketing

In August 2005, we introduced a Marketing to Children Policy, which stipulates, among other things, that Arnott's will not advertise any of its products on television during ‘C' or ‘P' classified television programs or ‘G' cinema movies in Australia; or ‘G' or ‘GXC' classified television programs or ‘G' cinema movies in New Zealand.
